Training & Support

Better

Official Gym Sponsor, Better, are here to help support your training needs!

Cross-training is a great way to enhance your total conditioning and running performance, supporting a sustainable, healthy, strong, and injury free running journey

Swimming - swimming is a brilliant way to build aerobic endurance while having a low impact on your body. It helps strengthen muscles you don’t normally use and is a safe indoor activity for the colder months

Group Cycling/Spin - another low impact class that can help build aerobic strength. A great motivator when you are finding it challenging to train

Yoga / Pilates - yoga and pilates can improve flexibility and decrease your risk of injury. This activity builds core stabilising muscles which helps with power. It can correct poor running form and improve muscular imbalances.

Why should I run with an official pacer?

The Belfast City Marathon Charles Hurst Pacing Team are experienced runners who will encourage you throughout your race to help you meet your desired finishing time. It is also a great opportunity to run with a like-minded group and make your run more enjoyable.

Which pacer should I run with?

You should choose a pace that best reflects your training and ability level, allowing you to run at a comfortable pace throughout the marathon. If you can't decide between two paces (for example 3:00 and 3:15), it is recommended that you start with the slower pace as you can always pick it up later in the race.

How do I find my pacer at the Start Line?

There will be designated start areas for specific finish times and you can follow the signage to these positions. Look out for those big blue flags!
