Local Nurses taking part in Moy Park Belfast City Marathon Team Relay for Air Ambulance NI
19 February 2024
Ramona Vrancut (Whiteabbey) along with 4 of her nursing colleagues, are taking part in the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon Team Relay Challenge on Sunday 5th May and raising funds for Air Ambulance NI. Ramona and her colleagues work in the Day Procedure Unit at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Ramona said,
‘It is an absolute pleasure to take on this challenge for Air Ambulance NI, especially considering this lifesaving service is so needed in our community. My colleague Emma came up with the idea and we all decided it was a great cause. We recently had the opportunity to visit the air base, to meet some of the amazing team and to see first hand the difference our donation can make.
This will be the first time we have taken part in the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon Team Relay together and we are really looking forward to it and we will hopefully raise some money to keep the helicopter flying.’
Grace Williams, Area Fundraising Manager for the charity said, “We are delighted that Ramona and her colleagues have decided to support the charity in the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon Team Relay. As designated charity partner, we think it’s a great opportunity to get active and play your part in saving lives, brains and limbs. ‘Others Live When You Give’ and we are keen to remind people of the range of events that will be part of the day on 5th May, including an 8-Mile Walk, Team Relay with a shortest leg of 4.2 miles, as well as the full 26.2 mile run and wheelchair race. Then of course there is the half marathon on 22nd September 2024.
Funds raised will help people in your community for whom the worst has happened, meaning they require pre-hospital critical care at scene. Every day the medical team are needed on average twice per day.”

So, why not gather a few friends for the walk, or a group of work colleagues for the relay or take on that ‘bucket list challenge’ of first-ever half-marathon or full marathon!
