Experiment Group take the plunge with Cancer Focus NI on New Years Day

Experiment 26.2 with Kathryn Holland (Cancer Focus NI) at their introductory meeting in Decathlon Belfast

Event organisers of the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon have recruited 15 ambassadors to the new “Experiment 26.2” group, all training for their first ever marathon in Belfast on Sunday 3rd May 2020.

The Experiment 26.2 Group started their marathon journey in December and will be undertaking a very comprehensive marathon training package courtesy of the event’s Official Sponsors and Partners including Official Charity Partner, Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.

All 15 ambassadors have chosen to run for Cancer Focus NI in May and what better official “ice breaker” challenge than to sign them up for the charity’s New Years’ Day “Dare to Dip” event at Crawfordsburn Beach!  This was one of the first of many mental, physical and endurance tests they will face as they meet and train for their first marathon!

Well and truly making a fresh start to 2020, around 300 took part in icy conditions at the event on Wednesday 1st January with funds raised going towards Immunotherapy Research at the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) in Queen’s University Belfast.
