Translink is gearing up to help runners and supporters travel conveniently and sustainably to this year's Belfast Half Marathon by operating a series of special early morning train services from across Northern Ireland.

To ensure participants arrive in plenty of time for the start of the event, additional early services will operate on the Portadown/Newry, Bangor, and Larne lines and from Coleraine, all arriving into Lanyon Place Station before 8.00am.

A line closure will be in place between Derry~Londonderry and Coleraine, however an early 212 bus service will depart from Foyle Street bus station at 6am arriving at Belfast Grand Central at 08.00.

The special services will provide a comfortable and stress-free journey, helping runners avoid traffic congestion and limited city centre parking on race day.

Keith McBrien, Translink Rail Events Manager, said:

"We're delighted to support everyone taking part in this year's Belfast Half Marathon by providing these additional early morning train services. Whether you're running, volunteering or cheering on family and friends, taking the train is one of the easiest ways to travel into Belfast on race day.

"Our special services have been scheduled to get participants into the city with plenty of time before the event, allowing them to relax and focus on the challenge ahead. We would encourage customers to plan their journey in advance and choose public transport for a convenient, reliable and more sustainable way to travel."

Participants are encouraged to purchase tickets before travelling where possible and check the latest timetable information before setting out.
