A lively weekend of free activities is set to take place at Girdwood Community Hub on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Kicking things off on Saturday (28 March), a multi-sport ‘try-it’ day will run from 10am to 1pm as part of Belfast’s European City of Sport 2026 programme, in partnership with Communities NI.
This drop-in session gives people of all ages and abilities the chance to get involved in a variety of sports, including boxing, breakdancing, tai chi, hyrox, volleyball and pickleball. No booking is needed—just come along and give it a go.
On Sunday (29 March), the popular ‘Spring into Girdwood’ community fun day returns from 12pm to 3pm, bringing together families and local residents for an afternoon of entertainment and activity.
Visitors can enjoy even more sporting opportunities such as BMX, skateboarding and a climbing wall, alongside live music and drumming performances. There will also be plenty for younger attendees, including inflatables, arts and crafts, a gaming bus, sensory bus, face painting and special character appearances.
To ensure the event is welcoming for everyone, a dedicated quiet space will be available throughout the day.
Both days are completely free to attend, with no tickets required. Attendees are encouraged to use public transport where possible.
Come along, get involved, and enjoy a weekend packed with sport, creativity and community spirit.
