The Marshalled Mile scheme is a fantastic opportunity for your group to have a fun-filled and rewarding experience while making a positive impact on your local community.
With the Marshalled Mile scheme, groups, clubs, sports teams, societies, and organisations are invited to take volunteering responsibility of a particular section of the course. Groups are encouraged to ‘take over’ their allocated mile and brand the area with the likes of flags and banners.
Why not represent your local area and look after the course section closest to ‘home’ for your group? Or claim a mile on the course that runners need that much needed boost of encouragement? The routes pass through North, South, East and West of the vibrant historic capital, passing many iconic landmarks along the way – sign up early to avoid missing your ideal mile!

Marshalling on behalf of The Daily Mile Stranmillis University brought a unique joy, embodying the spirit of community health and wellbeing. We witnessed the determination etched on the runners’ faces as all participants of all ages embraced the commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Their energy was contagious and the air buzzed with excitement as we cheered, offered encouragement, and echoed their determination in their gruelling journey, one step at a time. The atmosphere was vibrant with positivity, endurance and determination. Serving as a Daily Mile marshal and being part of the monumental Belfast City Marathon movement, has truly been a fulfilling, rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Organisation: The Daily Mile
We really enjoyed the Expo and meeting people from all around the world who travelled to take part in the Belfast City Marathon. Heard many stories and got to dish out local tips for visiting Belfast! The day flew in! Totally recommend other clubs getting involved in the Expo, we were all buzzing and inspired, and all agreed to definitely come back next year.
