WIN a Trek Cuba place with Cancer Focus NI at December Marathon Christmas Quiz

The “Christmas in Cuba” Quiz night will take place on Wednesday 4th December at 7.30pm in The Chelsea, Lisburn Road with the ultimate quiz master hosting - Pete Snodden from the Cool FM Breakfast Show!

Supported by the event sponsors and partners there will be a range of fantastic prizes to be won including a place in the Cancer Focus NI organised Trek Cuba, worth over £4000!  Trek Cuba takes place between 6th – 15th March 2020, starting in the vibrant city of Havana, also a Unesco World Heritage Site, finishing in the colonial old town of Trinidad.  Through this incredible 7-day challenge you will trek through Cuba’s spectacular countryside and rural villages – truly an experience of a lifetime!

The Cuban themed Christmas event is open to the public on the night with up to 100 places available. Tables will be available on a first come first served basis at a cost of £10 with a maximum of 5 people per team, perfect for your Team Relay team!   Quiz goers are encouraged to come dressed Cuban style for a chance to win the best dressed prize!

All proceeds from the evening will go to Cancer Focus NI to help fund their Immunotherapy Research at the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology (CCRCB) in Queen’s University Belfast.

Roisin Foster, Chief Executive of Cancer Focus Northern Ireland said:

“Cancer Focus NI is delighted to have been chosen as the sole charity partner for the next two years for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon. All the money raised will stay in Northern Ireland and will fund a new research project looking at the treatment of esophageal and pancreatic cancer – two cancers which at present have very low survival rates.”

This research project would see the advances that immunotherapy has brought to the treatment of these cancers and would be delivered to patients with oesophageal and pancreatic cancers.  The overall aim is to develop new treatment options and therefore save lives here in Northern Ireland and eventually way beyond our shores.

The 39th Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon takes place on Sunday 3rd May 2020 from Stormont Estate with a full line up of events to suit all levels of fitness including the Marathon and Wheelchair Race, the Team Relay, 8 Mile Walk and Fun Run.

Around 20,000 are expected to take part and will be encouraged to #MakeItCount and run, walk or wheel for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland in 2020 to help more people survive from cancer.

Entries are open at www.belfastcitymarathon.com via the brand new Eventmaster online registration station.  Entries can be made via mobile or desktop with an early rate available until 29th November 2019.  Final entry will be on 10th April 2020.

The Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon is sponsored by Athletics Northern Ireland, Daily Mirror, Belfast City Council, Better, Cool FM (Downtown Radio and Downtown Country), Translink, Spar, Belfast Live, Framar Health, Decathlon Belfast, Tayto and Four Star Pizza.  This year’s official charity is Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.
