Paul Pollock claims victory at 40th Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon

On Sunday 1st May, thousands took part in the 40th Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon.  Including the Marathon, Team Relay and 8 Mile Walk, all taking place from Stormont Estate and finishing in Ormeau Park.

Event organisers are delighted to see a return of the event to its traditional date following the date change in 2021 due to COVID-19, with so much support.

This year the Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon were awarded the 2022 NI and Ulster Marathon Championship.

A great day for athletes across the island of Ireland, congratulations to Paul Pollock of Annadale Striders winning the 40th Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon in a time of 2:16:13.  Closely followed by Conor Gallagher (St Malachy’s AC) in a time of 2:24:59.  Third place was Gary O’Hanlon of Clonliffe Harriers, in a time of 2:26:59

For the ladies, Gladys Ganiel (North Belfast Harriers) came in first in a time of 2:43:49.  In second place, Gillian McCrory of St Peters AC with a time of 2:52:06.  Natalie Hall of was third in a time of 2:54:00.   

Congratulations also to Karol Doherty who won the Wheelchair Race in a time of 3:17:47
