Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon Race Crew Fuelled by Four Star Pizza

Entering its 39th year in 2020 the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon is growing from strength to strength with an increase in participation numbers – 2019 saw a record number of marathon entrants alone. The event simply couldn’t happen without the support of all their volunteers.
Around 600 volunteers come together every May to support a range of event roles to ensure the Marathon, Team Relay, 8 Mile Walk and Fun Run events run smoothly, with all participants enjoying a safe, family friendly day out.
Event organisers are excited to reveal a new volunteer initiative and incentive scheme for 2020, including Four Star Pizza as the new sponsor of the Volunteer Race Crew!
For the first time the event is launching the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon Community Chance, whereby groups, clubs and societies that provide 6+ volunteers will be in with a chance to win £500! The incentive has been formed to enable groups, clubs and societies to continue bringing communities together to do the things they love without the financial burden as well as raising awareness of their group.
Also new for 2020, anyone interested in joining the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon Volunteer Race Crew can register online via the event registration system Eventmaster.
Éimear Degan, Senior Events Officer coordinates the events’ volunteers each year: “Our event relies heavily upon volunteers and this encompasses a wide range of people from families volunteering together, students, sports clubs and community groups to those who have retired and more. We welcome all to come support us for our Marathon Sunday events, there’s 26.2 miles worth of volunteer opportunities available to suit all! If you want to play a part in supporting thousands of participants and good causes, then you are in the right place! The buzz and excitement at our events is indescribable - there are few ways to have so much fun while contributing so much to your community.”
2020 will see further developments and positive perks for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon volunteers to reward their hard work. Each volunteer in the group will also receive a t-shirt, Decathlon Belfast jacket, and snack pack for race day and to thank them for all their hard work they will receive a FREE Four Star Pizza voucher!
Four Star Pizza Director Brian Clarke said: “Not only are we sponsoring the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon events, supporting all the runners and walkers, we are delighted to be able to fuel the all-important volunteers for the event. Four Star Pizza will be providing vouchers for each volunteer to enjoy a 9” pizza from one of our 58 stores across the island of Ireland.”
