What Strength Exercises Should I Do
Advice from Dr Mark Matthews... "The number one strength exercise for endurance running is calf raises. Running is essential hopping forwards, from one leg to another. To move forward requires a ‘push’ from the calf muscles, with the hip muscles contributing at faster speeds. The knee muscles (i.e. quadriceps) are important for when you contact the ground.

If you want to improve your running and minimise Achilles tendon, calf or knee injuries, target the calf muscle - start doing some calf raises, single leg, slowly (2 seconds up, 2 seconds down), 2-3 times a week."
